About Us

Barn Hunt

We are a club specializing in Barn Hunt in Northern California, Southern Oregon and Northwestern Nevada.

Barn Hunt is a new and growing sport for dogs and people.  It was designed to provide an outlet for breeds whose traditional roles were to rid farms, barns or other areas of destructive vermin and as an opportunity for their breeders to test the working traits of their dogs.

Dogs search through bales of hay for rats that have been hidden within sturdy tubes

(rat safety is very important as most are family pets).

Barn Hunt is not just for the normal ratting breeds however, this sport is open to all dog breeds, purebred or mixed, and is a great sport for older dogs, and people as well.

Even tri-pod and deaf dogs can compete .

However, there is a requirement that all dogs must be able to fit through an 18" wide by bale-height tall tunnel.

Barn Hunt even has titles that can be earned, along with increasing levels of difficulty and championships.

And while Barn Hunt is an independent sport the titles are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
